John Chapter One NKJV

The first 11 verses seem more poetry and an older style and then around verse 14 I noticed that it seems more like a story is being told, and continues on in this fashion, with a few breaks where the verses seem to merge both styles back and forth. It made me wonder if the first chapter was originally two different texts and was put together for some reason.

I learned that in this case, not all of them, I'm sure, italics means that word was originally not included in the text, but was added to make implied meaning more clear.

"John" was not John the Baptist. ... So when you start out reading the book of John, and it tells you about John, it's not the same person. Just thought I'd clear that up. I used to know it, but I was really tired this morning when I read my Bible.

Verses 11 and 12 are vastly important to all Non-Jew Christians. This is where God said He'd adopt us if we would accept Him as our Father. He gave us the right to claim Him. God gave his chosen children the opportunity and they didn't recognize their Father, so He opened the doors for the rest of us, the gentiles. The unclean. The unworthy.

I didn't know where this was in my Bible before, and so it was really cool to see it, as I had been wondering about it lately.

As long as you believe He's your Father, He will be. You just have to call for your Daddy and tell Him, so He knows to let you in and take care of, feed, teach, wash, discipline, and love you.

I know this has been said before, but this is what I got from what I read today, so that's what I'm writing.
